--Tour for free the area's greenhouses, nurseries and florists

Throughout the month of May 2007, the Highway 29 Community Partnership is promoting a self-guided tour called “Springtime on the Yellowstone Trail” – a tour of the many greenhouses, nurseries and florists of Cadott, Boyd, Stanley, Thorp, Withee, Owen, Curtiss and surrounding area.  Explore the treasures of the Yellowstone Trail and of rural Wisconsin, whether you want to beautify your home, buy gifts for loved ones or simply want to enjoy Wisconsin’s gorgeous late spring weather by shopping outdoors – the trail has much to offer!

The seven communities listed above banded together to form the Highway 29 Community Partnership, a group devoted to enhancement of regional economic development and housing through joint marketing and resource utilization of participating communities.

The Yellowstone Trail was the first transcontinental automobile highway in the United States through the northern tier of the states from Washington through Massachusetts, and still exists today.  You may have heard about efforts of the Partner-ship and of the Yellowstone Trail in recent years – they are working hard to promote our area and the Trail itself.

In this year’s promotional effort by the Partnership, we have distributed 60,000 “placemat maps” regarding Springtime on the Yellowstone Trail to participating communities’ restaurants and businesses for use throughout the month of May.  Stop by, eat and pick up a placemat before you start your tour – these placemats provide information and a map to find these “greenery” businesses.

The website of the Partnership (www.partner29.com ) also provides information regarding the Partnership and this promotion to those on the web.  Furthermore, The Yellowstone Trail association’s website (www.yellowstonetrail.org) and widely distributed brochures, guides and legend will bring tourists to the area from coast to coast.  Springtime on the Yellowstone Trail truly is a far-reaching and collaborative effort!

So, this May, don’t take an expensive vacation when there’s plenty of inexpensive adventures to be had right here in Cadott, Boyd, Stanley, Thorp, Withee, Owen, Curtiss and surrounding area – like exploring the greenhouses, nurseries and florists along The Yellowstone Trail.  And while you explore the Trail, don’t forget to visit the cafes, specialty food stores and many, many businesses along the way!  Enjoy Springtime on the Yellowstone Trail!

As you follow the Yellowstone Trail this spring, stop in at Thorp and see what surprises we have in store for you. Flowers by Lana have flowers for all occasions with a large selection of fresh, silk, and potted plants.  Lana has a special talent for eye-catching displays.  As you travel down Washington Street you will also find Lynn’s Country Floral with an array of plants and flowers for your home or patio.  Stop in and get some ice cream on these hot spring days and browse her unique gift shop.  Lynn’s papers and stamps are a scrapbook hobbyist’s dream, complete with a kiosk to develop your photos.  If you are a gardener and itching to get planting, you need to check out Cindy’s Greenhouse on County Line Road.  Cindy can help you make your yard look like it came from the pages of a magazine.  Also gorgeous hanging plants are available.
