During
half-time at the Crusader’s Football game in Fond du Lac on Saturday,
August 7, Jeremy Staniec was inducted into the Crusaders’ Iron Man
League Hall of Fame. He was presented with a plaque and his
football history was read to the crowds, which included the years
Staniec helped the Thorp High School Cardinals get to State. “I
was so proud to be there for that presentation,” said Staniec’s mother,
Arlene Frye. Staniec’s accomplishments in football that were
included in the Hall of Fame induction ceremony include the 1993 win of
the State Championships with Thorp High School; 1994 state runner-up,
where Staniec was named All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State as
middle linebacker; 1995-200 played as outside linebacker at the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point; 2005-2007 stated playing outside
linebacker for the Crusaders and due to injuries on offense, filled in
at fullback and long snapper; 2006 fdl Crusaders MVP offense; and 2007
fdl Crusaders Leadership Award. Staniec retired from the league
for Army training and subsequent deployment to Kuwait/Iraq. After
he returned, Staniec returned to football, now coaching a Junior High
football team in Waupun. “I am proud to have been able to step
on the field with the men that battled with me and play for a high class
organization like the Fond du Lac Crusaders,” said Staniec.
