100 Years Ago (1907)

The Laberge lots have been neatly graded and a tennis court laid out for the amusement of the young people.

Rev. T. F. Hannaman, who has been pastor of the M. E. Church here for the past year, left for Eau Claire on Monday, having finished his labors here.

A petition has been forwarded to Washington asking for the establishing of a post office at Lublin, twelve miles and a half northeast of this place on the Ladysmith branch, so we are informed.

Henry Baxter, who has been employed as a filer in a saw mill at Hannibal, returned to his home at Eidsvold on Monday, the mill having completed its season’s work.

75 Years Ago (1932)

Roger Creek and Town Line – Whoopee! Butterfat is back to 26 cents per pound at local cheese factories.

The large truck of the Thorp Truck Line tipped over near the Northwestern Motor Works near Eau Claire.

Bone crochet hooks 2¢ each; Misses chinchilla winter coat $2.00; Webster dictionaries 10¢; men’s all wool sport coat $1.95

50 Years Ago (1957)

Lelan D. Mayenschen, Thorp, has enlisted for the Army Reserve for a period of six years with 2 years active duty.

Joanne Micke and Raymond Stroinski greeted relatives and friends at a reception at St. Hedwig’s Parish Hall following their marriage on Saturday, September 7, 1957 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

25 Years Ago (1982)

Selected as the court for the 1982 Thorp High School Homecoming are Dewey Severs, Darlene Pogodzinski, Paul Ebben, Laurie Jo Voelker, Tim Wnek, Kate Kaz, Danny Nowak and Rosanne Ciolkosz and King Kevin Burzynski and Queen Mandy Orheim.

A barn belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Art Behm was destroyed by fire, September 9.

10 Years Ago (1997)

Thorp High School’s Class of 1937 held their 60th reunion during the Fourth of July weekend.
