Gilman Newslets – Contractor O. S. Sherwood, having finished both the school building and Krueger’s new residence, has returned to his home at Birnamwood.
 
County Clerk John Huntzicker issued 2300 hunting licenses during the hunting season.
 
John Hoffman has sold his saloon building and one-half lot to Peter Borowik, who will take charge of the place on July 1st next.  Consideration $2100
 
Pat’k Finnegan received a white Wyandotte’s cockerel and two hens, of the full blood species, on Monday from a breeder at Excelsior, MN. 
 
75 Years Ago (1934)
 
A class of one hundred and thirty-eight was confirmed at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Lublin, December 13th, by the Most Reverend Joseph G. Pinten, D. D., Bishop of Grand Rapids, MI.
 
Roger Creek and Town Line – The local cheese factories paid 34 cents per pound for B. F. delivered during the last half of November.
 
Eidsvold Epitome – Carl Rasmussen had the misfortune to get two of his fingers on his right hand cut off while helping buzz wood at Axel Anderson’s Thursday.
 
50 Years Ago (1959)
 
At a meeting of the Peoples Exchange Bank Board of Directors Thursday evening, Emil Kostner, Thorp Finance executive, was named as a director to replace Richard Coates who passed away recently.
 
Bud Bishop, local Thor-Gas dealer, has taken over as Scoutmaster if (of) the Thorp Boy Scout Troop upon the resignation of Len Atwater the past week.
 
Following a meeting between city officials and Congressman Lester R. Johnson last month here, a postal inspector was in this city making an investigation to determine whether Thorp will qualify for city mail delivery.
 
25 Years Ago (1984)
 
New Thorp Chief of Police Robert Knudtson was officially welcomed to Thorp at Monday night’s City Council meeting.
 
The Torpedo Restaurant was recently selected as the best restaurant in Clark County to promote dairy products, by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.
 
The Thorp City Council passed a fair housing ordinance on November 12, 1984 endorsing the concepts of ‘fair and open housing for all persons.’
 
10 Years Ago (1999)
 
Stanley-Boyd High School officials decided to cancel school last Thursday after a threatening note was found.  The note was turned in to administration at 8:30 a.m. and by 8:35 a.m. police were on the scene and began evacuating the building.
 
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the December 8 car/pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of 85-year-old Mercedes R. Liebzeit.
 
Hard hats will soon disappear as the Stanley Correctional Facility nears completion.
