A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Steele on Mon. last.
 
Sheriff C. H. Shelden was in this village on Tues. summoning jurors for the next term of court.
 
Herman Holzhausen has sold his store building and cheese factory in the Town of Reseburg to Phillip Mattes of Kiel, who will take possession about April 1st.  Consideration $1,500
 
75 Years Ago (1921)

 
Gilman – A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Zaborowski, Feb. 27th.
 
Ms. F. W. Fischer, 54, died, Mon. March 7th, at 1:30 a.m., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Peters, was one of a family of ten children.
 
50 Years Ago (1946)

 
D. D. Stookey sold his residence property on Lincoln Street in Thorp Village to Edward Wendt last week.
 
Warrant Officer Harold Hiller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hiller, of Thorp and Marion Smith, of Los Angeles, Calif., were married March 8th at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of that city.
 
The wedding of Miss Viola McManus, daughter of Mrs. Angeline McManus of the Town of Taft and Mr. Harold Mattke, of Woodruff, was solemnized at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Gilman, last Tues. morning, March 19th.
 
M. J. (Jack) Boardman met his Australian bride, who arrived from Brisbane, Australia on Sun. March 10th, at St. Paul, last week.
 
Wenzel Mahal, Sr. 60, of Stanley, was fatally injured last week when he was crushed between a hayrack and tractor while working on a farm near Boyd, which he owned but was occupied by his son-in-law.
 
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church Fri. morning for Mrs. Wm. Oberle, 72, who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Tues. morning March 12, after several months’ illness.
 
Mrs. Wm. Brintnall, 67, a former resident of Thorp, passed away at the home of her brother, Jack LaGasse, at Joplin, Missouri, on Sat. March 16th.
 
Gilman – A baby girl weighting eight and one-half pounds was born to Mr. and Mrs. Florian Burzynski, Fri.  They named her Betty Jane.

The Production Credit Association announced this week that Robert Zager has been appointed to the Credit Manager and Agriflax coordinator position at the home office in Neillsville.
 
The City of Thorp has been chosen to host District 7 of the Alice in Dairyland Contest this year it was announced.
 
A Dell Rapids, South Dakota man was killed Wed. when a bulk milk truck apparently went out of control and rolled on a county road, northwest of Dell Rapids. The victim was Leopold Jaskot, 44.  He was thrown from the truck and it rolled over him.
 
Thorp, champion of the Cloverbelt Conference’s eastern division for the past two seasons, extended its conference winning streak to 24 games in a row during the 1970-71 campaign, an all-time division record.
 
Raymond E. Covert, 83, Terry, Mont., died Sat. at the Prairie Community Hospital in Terry following a short illness.
 
The wedding of Mary Ellen Decot and Sergeant Larry L. Winger was held at the Church of the Nazarene, Sat. Feb. 20th.
 
Joe Frank Kiel, 75, died Tues. evening at his home in Miles City, Montana.
 
Lublin – The baptism of Donald Joseph Tomczak took place at St. Stanislaus Parish Sunday, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tomczak, Jr.

Dorothy Slachetka, 67, Withee, died, Friday March 14, 1986 at the Palms Nursing Home in Sebring, Florida.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Staron, Stanley, observed their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, Sat. Feb. 15, 1986.
 
Margaret Rasmussen, 71, Altoona, died Thurs. March 13, 1986 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.
