John Palmer
1852 - 1947
A son of William and Ann Palmer,[i] John Palmer was an early pioneer of York Township. The 1880 Federal Census lists a William (68) and Ann (58) Palmer living in York Township with several children. In addition, the 1880 plat map of York Township shows a William Palmer owning land in 29 (the same land later owned by Charles Buddinger). Clark County records indicate that John Palmer married Viola Whitcomb on August 23, 1876 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Neillsville, Wisconsin. The 1880 Clark County, York Township Census lists a J. Palmer (28) living with his wife Viola (21), daughter Lelia (3) and brother-in-law L. Whitcomb (18). The 1880 and 1893 plat maps show John Palmer owning land in Section 9.
