Melvin Turner
March 18, 1850 - March 25, 1915
Melvin Turner was a pioneer of York Township. It is believed that Melvin Turner was one of the two sons from Abel Turner's first marriage since Melvin's marriage record indicates that he was the son of Abel and Mary Turner.[i] Clark County records indicate that Melvin Turner married Augusta Radant on April 23, 1876 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Augusta Radant was a daughter of Augustus and Elena Radant. The 1880 Federal, Clark County, York Township Census lists a M. Turner, age 30, with a wife “Gusty” and a one-year-old son, Morris. The 1900 Census also shows a Melvin Turner (50) with his wife, Augusta and three children. The 1880 and 1893 plat maps show M. Turner owning 40 acres of land in Section 9.
