Clara A. Holz
Clara A. Holz, 96, formerly of the town of Corning, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill.
Clara was born July 14, 1908, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Otto and Marie (Buntrock) Berndt. She married Leonard W. Holz on June 22, 1929, in the town of Corning. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1976.
Clara and her late husband had dairy farmed in the town of Corning. She also had worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, the former Eddie's Bake Shop, Merrill, and at Fromm Brothers in Hamburg. Clara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Berlin. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, baking, playing cards and family gatherings on Sundays.
Clara is survived by one daughter, Lorene (Norman W.) Hass, Merrill; two sons, LeRoy (Gladys) Holz, Hubertus, and Leonard (Janice) Holz, Wausau; 11 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; 19 great grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Leona Oestreich, Merrill.
Clara is preceded in death by four sisters, Marie and Alma Berndt, Selma Oestreich and Ruth Pagel; five brothers, Walter, Arthur, Fred, Harvey and Otto Berndt; and two sons-in-law, Harold Hass and Albert Greil.
Clara's funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Berlin. The Rev. Jeffrey Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steve and Randy Holz, and Robert, Carl, Leon, Lloyd and John Hass. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home in Merrill, and beginning at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
