Ronald E. Torkelson

Ronald E. Torkelson, 63, of Merrill, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Ronald was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Arnold, son of the late Henry and Jennie Garm Torkelson.

Ronald was employed at the Wegner Corporation. Although he was not a Jehovah's Witness, he strongly believed in the faith. Ronald enjoyed anything mechanical, especially working on tractors. His family describes him as a "regular grease monkey." Ronald also loved watching wildlife. He will be remembered as a down to earth person who was very good natured.

Survivors include his son Daniel, West Bend; sisters Pat (Rusty) Kloske, West Bend; Beverly (Gene) Edmison, Sparta; and Mary (Roland) Henkel, Harshaw; brothers Henry (Veldeen), Merridian, Idaho; James, Clyman; Tom, Merridian, Idaho; and Ted and Donald, both of Milwaukee; aunts Stella Schoerner, Merrill; and Josephine Wayda, Spooner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nephew Nicky Torkelson.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Mr. Steven Thoreen of the Jehovah's Witnesses led the service. Burial will be in Holcombe Cemetery, town of Holcombe, Chippewa County in the spring of 2008. Online condolences at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com.
