Harvey Woodward II

Harvey Woodward II of rural Merrill passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Palliative Care at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He was a veteran of law enforcement service in Marathon and Lincoln counties for 35 years.

Harvey was born May 10, 1927, in the town of Weston, to the late Harvey and Pearl Howland Woodward Sr. He married Evelyn Rucks on Nov. 15, 1952, in Colby. She survives.

Harvey was an avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed buying and developing real estate. He was very active in politics. Harvey was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and Eau Claire Consistory. He was a member of the North Central Health Care Facilities Board and an advisor on the River Valley State Bank Board. Harvey was a member of the National Rifle Association, Lincoln County Sports Club, Merrill Rotary and Merrill Eagles Club. Harvey had a dog named "Tiffy" who went everywhere with his best friend.

Surviving are his wife Evelyn; sons Harvey (Diane) III, Mosinee; Reed (Susan), Pulaski; Harlyn "Rocky" (Debbie), Mosinee; Marlyn "Corky" (Danette), Merrill; and Brian (Susan), De Pere; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Sandra "Toots" (James) Ryan, Weston; and Jessie (Ronnie) Drews, Wausau; and brothers Quentin (Linda), Schofield; Dexter (Darlene), Merrill; Lionel (Karen), Weston; Dwight (Helen), Wausau; and Cleo (Jeanette), Rothschild. He was preceded in death by his sister Christine "Tina" Woodward.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Jeffrey Martinson will officiate. Visitation will be tonight, Wednesday, April 25, 4-8 p.m., at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., and again on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of ICU and Palliative Care at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, for their tender care and concern.
