Jane Bjorklund

Jane Bjorklund, 88, of Merrill, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Hospice Services.

Jane was born April 14, 1919, in Merrill, to the late Charles and Alma Johannes Bjorklund.

Jane graduated from Merrill High in 1937 and later received her bachelor's degree in education from UW Madison in 1942. She later received her master's in history in 1949. Jane started her career in Sheboygan in 1942. She then served her country with the Air Force Radio School at Truax Field, Madison, from 1943-1945. After the war, she returned to Merrill and taught at Merrill High from 1947-1953. She went on to teach in Norway for two years and returned to Wisconsin working for Monona Grove High from 1955 until her retirement in 1984. Jane was involved in the Merrill Historical Museum, the Meals on Wheels program, HAVEN, Valpariso University Guild and Trinity Lutheran Church. She also participated in many musicals with the Wausau and Madison Symphonies, and many other musical and theater productions.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting with the arrangements.
