Susan A. Schultz

Susan A. Kaufman Schultz, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill.

Born in Wausau on Jan. 2, 1937, Sue was the daughter of the late Evan and Frances Gallistel Kaufman.

Sue was enjoying retirement after a 40 year career in nursing; 28 years of emergency care nursing at Holy Cross/Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill, and from 1962- 1974, pediatric and emergency room nursing at the former St. Mary's Hospital of Wausau. Even after retirement, she remained active in her career by performing eye enucleations for the Eye Bank of Wisconsin from 1987 to 2005 and was always on call as "Dr. Mom" for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During her retirement she enjoyed living on Rox Bee Acres, her 80-acre farm and restored 140-year-old farmhouse, which she labored years of love, sweat and tears to achieve. She also enjoyed sitting for her youngest grandchildren, riding and working with her horse, adding hundreds of perennials and annuals to her flower garden, knitting and crocheting many afghans and sweaters, baking her famous "Grandma's Buns" and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.

She will be greatly missed by her family, including children Autumn (Jim) Reno, Granite City, Ill.; Evan (Connie) Schultz, Oregon, Wis.; Matt (Melissa) Schultz, Madison; and Erin (Brian) Ralls, Wausau; grandchildren Heather Williams, Green Bay; Mandy Williams, Wausau; Zach and Zoe Schultz, Oregon, Wis.; and Nathan and Dominick Ralls, Wausau; great-grandchildren Christopher, William and Pamela; and her beloved horse Smoke. Also surviving are her sister Autumn Kinney and eight nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill.

Special thanks and huge hugs to the entire staff of Good Samaritan Health Center and Marshfield Clinic for all of your love, help and hard work. You hold a very special place in our hearts. Thanks also to the Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and to everyone at Dr. Rezazadeh's office.
