Edna M. Rajek
Edna M. Rajek, 86, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, with her family by her side.
Edna was born Nov. 6, 1920, in the town of Schley, daughter of the late Walter and Sara Waldburger Josten. She married Alfred F. Rajek on May 31, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1992.
Edna and her late husband farmed side by side in the town of Schley from 1942 until both retired in 1978. They had built their farm building by building. In 1996, Edna moved into Park Place in Merrill, and in 2005 she moved to Pine Crest. Edna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She was a longtime member of the "Heller Ladies Card Club." One of Edna's greatest joys was her granddaughter Shelly.
Survivors include her daughter Judith (Robert) DeMesy, Merrill; granddaughter Shelly (Peter) Mondeik, Gleason; great-grandson Justin Mondeik, who was named after his great-grandmother's maiden name; and step great-granddaughter Ellen Mondeik. Also surviving are sister Florence Beyer, Merrill; sister-in-law Dorothy Olson, Rockford, Ill.; and brothers-in-law Harold (Marge) Rajek, Gleason; and James (Ruth) Rajek, Merrill. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; her parents Walter and Sara Josten; great-grandson Jordan; her father- and mother-in-law Ernest and Alice Bessey Rajek; sisters-in-law Marie Schmirler, Isabelle Benzinger and Lila Frick; brothers-in-law Emil Beyer, Raymond Rajek and Leslie Rajek; and nephews Donald and Rodney Beyer.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 19, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Pine Crest Nursing Home and Dr. Donald Evans for their care and understanding with their mother.
