Susan M. Wangen
Susan Marie Wangen, 60, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under the care of her family and Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Susan was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Merrill, daughter of Mable Rusch Wengeler, Merrill, and the late Herbert Wengeler. Sue graduated from Merrill Senior High School. She had worked for the Lincoln County Clerk until her retirement. On Dec. 30, 1967, Sue married Ralph Wangen. He survives.
The couple was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Brenda Sue Wangen, New Berlin; and Dawn Alft, Appleton. They were also blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, Selah Marie Alft, Nina Ann Margaret Alft and Vivian Elizabeth Alft. They were the apple of Nana's eye. Sue enjoyed cross stitching and working on her embroidery machine. She also enjoyed the company of her cross stitching groups. Sue was a life member of the Merrill VFW Auxiliary and was currently their treasurer.
She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Ralph Wangen, Merrill; daughters Brenda (fiance Dan Savic) Wangen, New Berlin; and Dawn (Jon) Alft, Appleton; granddaughters Selah Marie, Nina Ann Margaret and Vivian Elizabeth Alft, all of Appleton; and her mother Mable Wengeler, Merrill. Also surviving are brother David (Mary) Wengeler, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Halena (Lyle) Anderson and Raynette (Charles) Runge, both of Merrill; and brother-in-law Oscar (Jeanne) Wangen, Merrill.
Funeral services were Monday, June 18, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. John Eldred and Pastor Missy Holdorf co-officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
