Margaret E. Dettmering

Margaret Esther Dettmering, 86, of Wausau, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.

Margaret was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Merrill, daughter of the late Richard and Alice Meyer Hackbarth. On Aug. 2, 1940, she married Raymond Dettmering. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2002.

Margaret was a stay at home mom, selling Stanley products to family and friends. Each summer she looked forward to spending time at the cottage in Phillips. She enjoyed attending her granddaughter Nicole's local gymnastic meets as well as reading about the out of town events. The love of her life was seeing her great-grandchildren. She was a faithful Wednesday morning Bible Study attendee at Trinity Church, thanks to Trudy. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother/mother-in-law and of course a great bread baker using the bread machine.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law Judy Dettmering, Machesney Park, Ill.; sons Dennis (Mary K), Deerbrook; and Gary (Mary M.), Rothschild; grandchildren Todd (Janet) Dettmering, Rockford, Ill.; Tammy (Kerry) Lenort, Madelia, Minn.; and Nicole Dettmering, Rothschild; and great-grandchildren Kasey, Caleb and Jazlyn Lenort, Madelia, Minn. Also surviving are brother-in-law George (Sylvia) Dettmering, Merrill; sisters-in-law Irene Rasmussen, Rhinelander; and Elaine (Herbert) Kufahl, Merrill; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, son Gene, brothers Ed, Clarence and Wally Hackbarth; sisters Florence Goodnow and Eleanore Hoeft; and great-grandchild Timmy Dettmering.

Funeral services were Wednesday, June 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz officiated. Burial was in Restlawn Cemetery, Wausau. The Peterson/ Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the neighbors on Winton St., to the staff at Kennedy Park for the month of wonderful care provided and a loving thanks to the staff at St. Clare's Hospital during her last three days on earth.
