Dena W. Annis

Dena W. Annis, 78, of Merrill, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at her home under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and surrounded by her family

Born in Norie on Oct. 5, 1928, Dena was the daughter of Peter and Clara Van Prooyen Suwyn Sr. She married Robert Annis in Otley, Iowa, on Sept. 27, 1948. He survives.

Dena graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1946. She was a clerk for Van's Meat Market for 45 years. Dena was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was in the church choir and Altar Guild. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, working word search and jigsaw puzzles, and helping others. Dena enjoyed collecting anything with a butterfly on it. She loved life and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Robert, Merrill; son Jeffrey (Linda), Merrill; daughter Cindy (Steven) Latzig, Merrill; grandchildren Brenda (Robert) Strozewski, Menasha; Robert (Beth) Latzig, Plover; Stephanie Latzig, Kellner; Sarah (John Tomajcik), Jessica (Tracey) Sawczuk and Cristie (Richard) Seefeld, all of Merrill; and Amy Pehlke, Wausau; and great-grandchildren Corban, Trinity, Dena, Quinten, Devon, Derek, Jenna, Tori and Sommer. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Joyce Suwyn, Irma; Jayne Annis, Merrill; Darlene Annis, DeFuniak, Fla.; Carol (John) Krueger, Neenah; and Muriel (Dale) Kopetzky, Merrill; brothers-in-law Philip (Joan) Annis, Merrill; and James (Yvonne) Annis, Gainesville, Fla.; dear friend Sandy Pike, Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Faith Lutheran Church, town of Maine. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
