Dann G. Manthei

Dann G. Manthei, 50, of 804 Adams St., Merrill, formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at his residence.

Dann was born Dec. 25, 1956, in Merrill, son of Beyrnelle Brickner Manthei and the late Donald Manthei. Dann married Pam Christian. They were later divorced.

Dann traveled the World as a Merchant Marine, and visited almost every port in the world. He enjoyed sailing; he absolutely loved taking his family to the Florida Keys on his sailboat. Dann loved his children dearly and was always proud of them. He also enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with the "hunting gang." Dann enjoyed cooking seafood for big family get-togethers. Dann taught nautical skills at Marine Science Schools for Delinquent Boys, where he met Pete, and they began a lifelong friendship.

Survivors include his mother Beyrnelle Manthei, Merrill; daughter Tempest Manthei, Jacksonville, Fla.; and sons Kells and Clain, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Joshua, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are his sister Kim Losen, Fort Wayne, Ind.; brothers Jay (Beth), Sheridan, Wyo.; Glen (Tammy Krueger), Hatley; and Kurt (Kim), Jacksonville, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and Pam Christian, Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father Donald.

There was a memorial visitation on Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
