William A. Becker

William A. Becker, 88, Medford, formerly of Nehrbass Rd., Athens, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at Memorial Health Care Center, Medford.

Born in the town of Halsey on Nov. 5, 1917, William was the son of the late Otto and Augusta Krum Becker. He married Catherine Literski on April 25, 1942, in Wausau. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1998.

William and Catherine farmed in the town of Halsey for many years and he also worked as a logger and at Fromm Brothers. Among his favorite things to do were spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, as well as being an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

Survivors include his daughters Judith Ann (Mark) Bernard, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Roberta "Bobbie" (Michael Matyka) Ellingson, Westboro; six grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Dorothy (Bill) Kamm, Kansasville; and Arlene Baltes, Minneapolis, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Robert; son-in-law Terry Ellingson; brothers LeRoy and Otto; and sisters Ruth, Bernice and Isabella.

Funeral services were Friday, July 28, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Burial was in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com.
