Eleanor Waldow

Eleanor Waldow, 95, of Merrill, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Harbor House, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Eleanor was born May 24, 1912, in the town of Corning, daughter of the late Henry and Sophie Pinno Koelsch. She married Herman Waldow on June 19, 1937, in St. Stephen's Church, Merrill. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1987.

Eleanor had cleaned houses for a number of Merrill families. She was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill, and the Mission Circle. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, her flowers, reading, and helping the residents of Pine Crest get to their church services. She and her husband Herman built and decorated three houses.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Eleanore Koelsch, Athens; nieces Carol (Arnold) Steidinger, Athens; Dinah (Dave) Finney, Sunriver, Ore.; and Suzanne (Wayne) Krueger, Wausau; nephew Leroy Koelsch, Athens; and great- nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, and brothers Ervin and Clarence Koelsch. Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. John Eldred officiated. Entombment was in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Eleanor's family would like to thank Aspirus Hospice Services for their comforting and loving care. Also, a special thank you to all of the staff at Harbor House in Merrill for their compassion and care for Eleanor.
