Shirley A. Robl

Shirley A. Robl, 79, of W1089 Cty C, Gleason, town of Schley, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at her home under the care of her family and Ministry Home Care/Hospice.

Shirley was born April 4, 1928, in Tomahawk, daughter of the late Victor and Emma Wery Van Strydonk. She married Harold "Guy" Robl on Dec. 27, 1947, in the town of Harrison. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2003.

For 24 years, Shirley was the clerk for the town of Schley, Lincoln County. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. She served the parish as church organist for over 40 years, was in the church choir, and was also a church vocalist. Shirley's hobbies included gardening, knitting, reading, playing the piano at home, and studying her family's genealogy.

Survivors include her daughters Sue Robl, town of Harrison; and Bev (Karl) Shaeve, Minocqua; sons Rick (Louise), Amery; Bill and Ed, both of Merrill; Mike, Black River Falls; Allen, Marshfield; and Jerry (Caroline), Merrill; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Jean Wronski and Rosie (Marion) Polanski, both of Chicago, Ill.; and Vickie Wolff, Gleason.

A Memorial Mass was held Monday, Oct. 15, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. Rev. John Anderson was the celebrant, assisted by Michele Rein, parish director. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family. The Robl Family has requested that memorials be directed to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville.
