Leslie E. Scheu
Leslie E. Scheu, 88, of Merrill, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Born in the town of Corning on May 27, 1919, Leslie was the son of the late Alvin and Helena Moehrer Scheu. He married Delores Voigt on Nov. 14, 1942, in the town of Hamburg. She survives.
Leslie and his wife Delores farmed in the town of Corning until 1948. He then worked as a logger in Upper Michigan. Later, Leslie owned and operated Scheu's Electric. He also did home construction. Leslie was really a "Jack of All Trades." He retired in 1981. Leslie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved hunting, fishing and playing music. Leslie loved to play the accordion and piano and wrote several songs. He was a member of "The Sunset Ramblers" a local country-western band. They were honored by accompanying "Lulu Belle and Scottie" at the Lincoln County Fair. Leslie also had a polka band for many years. He loved to entertain, have fun and tell stories.
Surviving are his wife Delores, Merrill; daughters Judith Chartier, Merrill; Sandra (Don) Roloff, Wausau; Donna (Daryl) Berndt, Rothschild; and JoAnn (Steve) Carlson, River Falls; son Russell (Donna), Merrill; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Lorna (Lester) Neumann, Watersmeet, Mich.; and brother Donald, Merrill. He was preceded in death by sisters Eleanor Neumann and Sylvia Madson.
Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
