Elmer L. Mootz

Elmer L. Mootz, 91, of 714 S. State St., Merrill, died Friday Nov. 9, 2007, at his home, under the car of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Elmer was born Sept. 12, 1916, in the town of Hamburg, son of the late Frank and Sarah Golz Mootz. He married Mary B. Bidwell on Sept. 29, 1949, in the town of Hamburg. She survives.

Elmer was a dairy farmer. He also cooked maple syrup, raised bees for honey production and grew and harvested berries. Elmer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. He served as financial secretary for the church for over 40 years. Elmer enjoyed working in the woods.

Survivors include his wife Mary B. Mootz, Merrill; sister Edna Weber, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 12, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Joel Danner officiated. Entombment was in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Elmer's family would like to thank James and Mary Downing, Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services-nurses and aides, Pastor Joel Danner for his many visits and comforting words, Oskar and Maria Werner, Dr. Tom Krembs, Ellen Vandre and Beryl Emerich, and other neighbors and friends too numerous to mention, for their comforting words and prayers.
