Marie Degner

Marie Degner, 61, of Irma, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at her home.

Born July 6, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., Marie was the daughter of Eric and Helga Boquist Hysing. She married Leroy Degner in 1973 in Illinois. He survives.

Marie had worked for a number of years at Geiss Meat Service in Merrill. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, shooting pool for Gail's Place, playing bingo, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband Leroy, Irma; sons Robin Yonke, Irma; and Mike (fiancee Cindy Jaeger) Degner, Eric (fiancee Heather Brill) Degner and Joey (Nacole) Degner, all of Merrill; step-daughters Debbie (Juan) Torres, Medford, Ore.; Mary Degner, Long Beach, Calif.; and Cindy Martinez, Redding, Calif.; step-son Randy (Regina) Degner, Irma; many grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Elsa Higgins, Merrill; Ellen "Petie" Lavelle, South Bend, Ind.; and Esther "Kavy" Shaffer, Champagne, Ill.; brothers Eric (Sis) Hysing, Arizona; and Edward Hysing, Costa Rica; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece and three nephews.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 23, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Charles Scheele officiated.
