Malinda A. Krohn

Malinda A. Krohn, 104, of Merrill died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Born Nov. 17, 1903, in the town of Hamburg, Malinda was the daughter of the late Henry and Lydia Fricke Bloch. She married Leo Weide on Sept. 10, 1925, in Hamburg. He died on Jan. 14, 1975. She then married Bernard Krohn on Dec. 30, 1978, in Merrill. He died on Nov. 8, 1983.

Malinda had worked as a maid for a Wausau doctor and his family and also cooked for 24 men at the former Fromm Brothers. Later, she farmed with her husband Leo Weide in the town of Scott. Malinda was a member of the Copper Dells Homemakers, sang with the Lincoln County Homemakers' Chorus, and the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Malinda enjoyed gardening, playing canasta, and baking. She often entered her baked bread at the Lincoln County Fair where she won many ribbons. For many years, Malinda enjoyed taking care of children.

Surviving are her granddaughter Norene (Dwight) Conger, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; step-daughters Maryann (Chuck) Rozzelle, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Gerry Zimmerman, Ivan, Utah; great-grandchildren Cathy (Tim) Hubmeier, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; Libby Conger, East Lansing, Mich.; and Dave Conger (fiancee Renata Avolio), East Lansing, Mich.; many step-grandchildren; and dear friend Lorene Hass. She was preceded in death by daughter Erlene Hass, son-in-law Norman Hass, and brother Fred Bloch.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
