Irene H. Petersen

Irene Helen Fechtner Petersen entered eternal life on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007.

Born on June 22, 1913, in Merrill, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Wilhelmine "Minnie" Fechtner. She resided with her true love, Howard Petersen, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. They were married August 16, 1940, in Merrill. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters Janet (Britton) McKenzie, Oregon, Wis.; and Judith (Donald) Mastaglio, Brookfield; grandchildren Nicole (Andy) Hoffmann and Michael (Betsy) Mastaglio; and great-grandchildren Noah and Evelyn Mastaglio. She was preceded in death by brother Norman Fechtner, formerly of Wausau.

Irene graduated from Merrill High School in 1931. She also graduated from Milwaukee Beauty School and practiced as a beautician at the former Milo' Beauty Salon in Merrill. Irene's faith was very important to her. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, and she has precious memories of her services to the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Holy Cross Chapel- Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Rev. Kelly Leary officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family. Online condolences may be made at www.taylorstinefuneralhome.com.
