Elizabeth R. Marthaler

Elizabeth R. Marthaler, 91, of W915 Bragg Ln., Medford, town of Goodrich, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at CrestView Nursing Home, New Lisbon, where she had resided for the past 3 months.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Sheboygan County, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Becker Kittle. She married Walter E. Marthaler on Nov. 27, 1937, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1983.

Elizabeth attended Calumet and Manitowoc area schools and Goodrich school. She was a housekeeper and babysitter in the Chicago area for about five years. After their marriage, she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm from 197 until their retirement in 1975 in the town of Goodrich area. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and bird watching. She crocheted blankets for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, and a past member of the Goodrich Homemakers.

Survivors include her children Stanley (Helen), Blair; Marshall (Billie) Jasper, Texas; LeaAnna (Richard) Farr, Missouri; Sherrie (Stan) Podgonski, Merrill; Ralph (Lynette), Medford; and Neil (Sandy), Athens; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.

Also surviving is a sister Mary (Francis) Wiese, Abbotsford. She was preceded in death by brother, Joe, Hanke and Anthony Kittle; and sisters Bernilda -Barbara- Kittel and Helen Marthaler.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, Rev. Gerald Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Hemer Funeral Home Medford, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and again Thursday morning 9-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Elizabeth-s name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.
