Robert Johnson
Robert "Hollywood" Johnson, 44, of Merrill, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at his home.
Born in Merrill on April 25, 1962, Robert was the son of Edwin and Kathleen Turgeon Johnson. He married Kim Podeweltz on July 22, 1995, in Merrill. She survives.
Rob was a 1980 graduate of Merrill High School. He then joined his father as a mechanic at Johnson's Sales and Service in Merrill. Rob earned his multi-engine pilot's license by 1991 and became a private pilot. He flew for various companies in the Merrill and Wausau areas including Reindl Printing, River Valley State Bank and Merrill Iron and Steel. Rob was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Rob enjoyed deep sea fishing, four-wheeling, flying, fixing up his 1978 Ford pickup ("The Blue Wreck") and working on his collection of classic cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Kim, Wausau; daughters Mindy, Merrill; and Michelle and Lindsey, both of Wausau; his parents Edwin and Kathleen Johnson, Merrill; and sisters Barbara (Mike) Ziemke and Mary (Chris) Frisch, both of Merrill. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Mabel Johnson and Fred and Anna Turgeon.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. Joseph Kleinheinz officiated. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, town of Schley.
The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
