Lawrence A. Nutter

Lawrence Aces Nutter, 92, of Merrill, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in the town of Pine River on April 6, 1914, Lawrence was the son of the late Leo and Mary Kluender Nutter. He married Marcia Burch on Aug. 5, 1950, in St. Paul, Minn. She survives.

Lawrence served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After returning from the war, he worked at Tiny Tot Company and later worked for Merrill Manufacturing Corp. until his retirement in 1974. After retirement, Lawrence worked with the Green Thumb organization.

Survivors include his wife Marcia, Wausau; step-sons John (Peggy) Lloyd, Cumberland; and Michael (Bette) Lloyd, Merrill; step-daughter Laurie (John) Krueger, Wausau; daughters Betty Nutter, Wausau; Mary Sandas, Naples, Fla.; and Kathy (Dan) Bradford, Merrill; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is sister Vila Bronson, West Bend; and his dog Gerdie. He was preceded in death by sons Larry and Edward and sisters Angeline and Agnes.

Funeral services were Monday, June 5, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Robert Smallman officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
