Ruth H. Gegner

Ruth H. Gegner, 83, of 2600 E. Main St., Merrill, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Ruth was born Jan. 1, 1923, in the town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Emil and Elsie Kriewald Radloff. She married Oswald R. Gegner on Oct. 20, 1945, in Merrill. He survives.

Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. During World War II Ruth worked at the Powder Plant in Baraboo, and was a riveter at the Boeing Aircraft Plant in Seattle, Wash. She retired as a sales clerk at the former Ben Franklin Store in Merrill. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Oswald, Merrill; daughters Kristine (Richard) Cochrane, North Fort Myers, Fla.; and Julie Gegner, San Diego, Calif.; and grandchildren Michelle Gegner (fiancee Christopher Salter); Dominique Gattuso and Alexandra Gattuso. Also surviving are sisters Myrtle (Leonard) Scheu, Bernice (Alvin) Pahls and Mavis (Phil) Smith, all of Merrill. She was preceded in death by sister Laura Radloff and brothers Frank, Wilbert and Lylas Radloff.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 13, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
