Steffani M. Abegglen

Steffani M. Abegglen, 30, of Manitowoc, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Steffani was born June 11, 1976, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of William and Roberta Krause Hilgendorf. On July 11, 1998, she married Richard A. Abegglen in Trinity Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.

Steffani was a graduate of Shawano High School, class of 1994. She then received her bachelor of arts degree in teaching from Concordia College in Seward, Neb. In 2004, Steffani began her her employment with St. Paul Lutheran School in Luxemburg as a teacher. She was also the choir director for the St. Paul Lutheran School, children's choir. Steffani's memberships included the Senior Choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc; and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Survivors include her husband Richard, Manitowoc; daughter Liberty, at home; her parents William and Roberta Hilgendorf, N. Judson, Ind.; brother Thomas Hilgendorf, New Holstein; her father-in-law and step-mother-in-law Dennis and Connie Abegglen, Merrill; her mother-in-law Sheryl Abegglen, De Pere; and her grandparents Orthwin and Ruth Hilgendorf. Uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including her special extended family at St. Paul Lutheran in Luxemburg, also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 9, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Richard Miller officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, served the family. A memorial fund has been established in Steffani's name at The Bank of Luxemburg, 630 Main St., Luxemburg, WI 54217.
