Mildred Trantow

Mildred "Jane" Trantow, 90, of Wakefield, Mich., died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Hurley.

The former Mildred Cotey was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Merrill, daughter of the late William and Louise Sukow Cotey. She attended Merrill High School, graduating with the class of 1933. On May 15, 1937, she married Norman E. Trantow in Minneapolis, Minn. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1995.

Jane was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084. Her hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening.

Jane is survived by her niece Sally (Al) Raehpour, Lac du Flambeau; great-nephews David (Teresa) Raehpour, and children Benjamin, Michael and Elizabeth, all of Wichita, Kan.; Paul (Karen) Raehpour and daughter Katherine, all of Valencia, Calif.; great-niece Julia Raehpour, Eau Claire; and sister-in-law Margaret Oestreich. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman and brothers Ellsworth and Raymond Cotey.

Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 12, at Wakefield United Methodist Church, Wakefield, Mich. Rev. Jean B. Rencontre officiated. Interment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park. The Lakeside Memorial Chapel, Wakefield, Mich., handled the arrangements.
