Virginia M. Anderson, 51, of Merrill, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at her home.
Born in Merrill on Aug. 6, 1955, Virginia was the daughter of John J. Gryskiewicz and the late Marion Schumacher Gryskiewicz. She married Michael Anderson in Mesa, Ariz., in 1980.
Ginny graduated from Merrill High School in 1973.She then worked for Bell Telephone in Madison for two years. Ginny then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following her honorable discharge, she attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where she received a degree in technology. Ginny then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she worked for Motorola through the U.S. government. Following her marriage and the birth of her children, the family moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she worked at Mc Clellan Air Force Base in the weapons management department. Following her retirement, Ginny moved back to Merrill where she worked as a substitute teacher for the Merrill Area Public Schools. She enjoyed children, walking in the woods, going for rides, doing crafts, and especially helping others.
Survivors include her daughter Jessica M. (fiancee Damian Woller) Anderson, Merrill; son Jeremy H., Merrill; granddaughter Alison; and father John J. Gryskiewicz, Merrill. Also surviving are sister Becky (Bruce) Cropsey, Lincoln, Neb.; and brothers Joe (Julie) Gryskiewicz, Merrill; and Tom (Lynn) Gryskiewicz, Three Lakes. She was preceded in death by her mother Marion Gryskiewicz and sister Terri Anthes.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 2, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Kelly Leary officiated. Full military honors provided by Merrill VFW Post 1638 Honor Guard.
