Norma H. Jabas

Norma H. Jabas, 86, of 711 E. First St., Merrill, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Norma was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Merrill, daughter of the late Carl and Alma (Krische) Klein. She married Dale E. Jabas on Nov. 21, 1936, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1993.

Norma had worked for 10 years as a bookkeeper at the former Red Owl in Merrill. She was also a homemaker. Norma was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was a former member of the Altar Guild and a current member of the Ladies Aid. Norma enjoyed crocheting, taking walks, camping and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Jean (Philipp) Cohrs, Donna (David) Woller and Shirley (Ronald) Woller, all of Merrill; her son, David (Bonnie), Merrill; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by brothers Carl and Leonard Klein.

The funeral was Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Alden J. Beversdorf officiated. Burial is in Merrill Memorial Park. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Sarah Brunow, Becky Schemenauer, LaNae Jabas and Michelle McConnell. Active pallbearers were Michael, Jeffrey and Rick Woller, Bruce Cohrs, Philipp Kiefer, and Peter Rajek. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
