Lauretta M. Borchardt, 86, Weston, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Care Parnters, Weston, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Lauretta M. Borchardt

Lauretta Mathilda Borchardt, 86, of Weston, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Care Partners in Weston under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Athens, Lauretta was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Kallien Ewan. She married Hilbert Richard "Hip" Borchardt in Milan on June 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1989.

Lauretta graduated from Athens High School. She had been the bookkeeper for Borchardt-Stremer Garage in Athens, a business co-owned by her husband. Lauretta was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Schofield. She enjoyed tending her flower beds, reading and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter Cheryl K. (John) Lenz, Rothschild; brother Ervin Ewan, Colby; sisters Dorothy Ramthun, Rothschild; and Dolores (Melvin) Schmidt, Marshfield; along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hip and brother Harvey Ewan.

Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Schofield. Rev. Joel S. Heckendorf officiated. Burial was in Athens Lutheran Cemetery. The Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com.
