Nancy L. Waldburger

Nancy Lee Waldburger, 64, of Merrill, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Born May 9, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, Nancy was the daughter of the late Robert Bromley and Pearl Heidemann Slater. She married Gary Waldburger on Aug. 28, 1992, in Merrill. He survives.

Nancy graduated from Baldwin High School in Baldwin, Mich., in 1960. She then attended Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Mich, graduating in 1963. Nancy moved to Merrill in 1985. She was a nurse at Holy Cross Hospital and later worked for Dr. Ahmad. Nancy then worked for Aspirus Family Health Specialists until retiring due to health. She will be remembered as a humanitarian. Nancy will also be remembered as a creative, artistic, strong-willed person who enjoyed family, friends and grandchildren by putting their needs above her own. Nancy was a summer resident of Minocqua who enjoyed art shows and craft sales. She enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening and observing wildlife. Nancy fought an honorable and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and dog Abby.

Survivors include her husband Gary, Merrill; daughters Shannon (Todd) Neumann, La Crosse; Denise Bassett, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Shawn (Lyssa) Bassett, Wausau; step-daughter Cheryl (Phillip) Laatsch, Beaver Dam; step-son John Waldburger, Fort Carson, Colo.; and grandchildren Molly, Matthew, Jenna, Alex, Jonathon, Talia and Caroline. Also surviving are sister Bonnie Bromley, Akron, Ohio; and brother Robert (Kathy) Bromley, Sparta, Mich.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 1, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
