Myron D. Schenzel
Myron D. Schenzel, 91, of Merrill, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at Hospice House in Wausau.
Born in Merrill on Sept. 4, 1914, Myron was the son of the late Herman and Martha Trantow Schenzel. He married Grace Sievert on May 10, 1942, in Jefferson, Ind. She preceded him in death on April 22, 1988.
Myron was a senior craftsman for Buick and Pontiac, including Seidel Motors and Nunnemaker Motors in Merrill. He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill, and had been a member of the church choir. During World War II Myron served with the Army's 698th Ordinance Tank Maintenance Company in Fort Knox and Hawaii as a technical sergeant where he worked on tank maintenance. Myron was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Merrill Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990. He enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts, most recently adding knitting to his interests. He loved music, especially polkas. Myron enjoyed playing sheephead and shooting pool at the Merrill Senior Center. His most favorite activity was playing Spider Solitaire on his daughter's computer. He loved to be on the 'go,' especially traveling with his wife and going to the Twin Cities to see their daughter. Myron enjoyed many years of boating and fishing at his cottage on Tug Lake. He loved to 'tinker' and fix anything mechanical. Myron always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
Survivors include his daughter Roxanne Schenzel, St. Paul, Minn.; brother LaVern "Oppy" (Lucille) Schenzel, Rhinelander; special friend Lorraine Harder, Merrill; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, sister Lorraine Hanson, and brother Stanley "Breezy."
