Thomas Manthie
Thomas E. Manthie, 75, Jefferson, passed away on Sept. 20, 2006, at Wausau Manor, Wausau.
Thomas was born on Jan. 22, 1931, in Menomonie, the son of the late Elmer and Leona (Hillman) Manthie. Tom married Joan Kennedy on Feb. 4, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jefferson. Tom retired after many years of driving truck for Schweiger Industries in Jefferson. In his younger years, Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting, and served as a volunteer firefighter. He had a great sense of humor which kept everyone laughing and in high spirits. He was a kind, giving and caring man. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and listening to his music. Tom was an important part of his family and will be missed by all.
Survivors include daughters Patti (Craig) Alwin, Merrill; and Cindy (Les Smith) Kozanecki, Fort Atkinson; grandchildren Jamie (Melissa) Guld, David (Angela) Guld, Dylan (Christina LaVaque) Alwin, Seth Alwin, Brook (Scott) Hilber, Chuck Borchardt, Toby (Dana) Monogue, Nathan (Angela Richards) Cook, Courtney Cook, Stephanie (Chris) Randall, and Regan Borchardt; great- grandchildren Ruben, Hunter and Isabella Hilber, Drew, Merritt and McKenna Monogue, Alex, Maggie and Jackson Randall, and Ariah Borchardt and Paige Guld; sister Viola (Raymond) Engsberg, Tucson Ariz.; brother, Norman Manthie, Grantsburg; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Marylee Kennedy, Madison; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was proceeded in death by his wife Joan; sons Michael and John; daughter Susan and her husband Ruben Borchardt.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Friends my call at the funeral home Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
