Gerald I. "Jerry" Rice, 72, of W2950 Schiller Dr., town of Schley, formerly of the town of Scott, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, at his home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Jerry was born July 2, 1933, in Gleason, son of the late Irven and Bertha Graunke Rice. He married Jean Krueger on Dec. 4, 1954, in Merrill. She survives.
Jerry was employed at Hurd Millwork in Merrill for 45 years. He retired in 2000 as maintenance millwright. Jerry was a member of Christian Assembly in Wausau. He enjoyed logging, dairy farming, hunting, fishing, camping and tending to his horses.
Survivors besides his wife Jean of Merrill include daughters Sandra (Michael E.) Whal, Merrill; Lori (Allen) Ward, Westboro; and Deborah (Michael) Lotharius, Merrill; son Thomas, Merrill; son Thomas, Merrill; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Karen Rice, Rockford, Ill.; and brothers LeRoy (Phyllis), Eugene (Karen) and Irven (Denise), all of Merrill. He was preceded in death by brother William.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 14, at The Christian Assembly, Wausau. Rev. Dennis Romaine officiated. Burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
