Marion D. Meyer, 78, of 2100 East Sixth St., Merrill died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Marion was born June 26, 1927, in Merrill, daughter of the late Frank and Ida Tomajcik Duginski. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and from the former Our Lady of Holy Cross High School. She married Donald O. Meyer on August 13, 1947, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1974.

Marion was the owner and operator of the former Marion-s Silks -n Twigs in Merrill in the 1970s and 1980s. She was very active in her community for many years. Marion served three terms as predisdent of the Opt-Mrs. Club in Merrill. She was a founder and charter member of the Merrill Historical Society. She was a member of the Merrill Eagles Club, a former member of the Merrill Area Business and Professional Woman's Club and a former member of the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce. Marion had been a senior energy aid for Lincoln County. She was an active member of her church all her life. She was a past member of the St. Francis Altar Society and served two terms as first vice-president. She had served on the parish council, and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine in the 1960s. Marion also taught Sunday school in the 1980s. Marion was a charter member of the Drug and Alcohol Intervention Ministry Team at Our Saviour-s Lutheran Church and the former St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She was also chairperson of events for the first parish bingo games. Marion was a proud to be a member of the church choir for 30 years. She was also a sign painter, and whenever a club or organization needed a sign, she would make them. Marion was a personal care worker with the Lincoln County Department of Social Services for 20 years, retiring in January 2001.

Marion would often say, "And in my spare time I raised seven beautiful children" They include her daughters Dona (Scott) Beyer, Diane (Allan) Gulke, Dena (Raymond) Harris, and Darlene "Tarry" Meyer, all of Merrill; sons David (Joy), Daniel "Nav" (Jean) and Douglas (Renee), all of Merrill; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Veronica Koch and Monica (Robert) Stimers, both of Merrill; and Elizabeth "Beth" Ecklund, Tomahawk; and brothers Clarence "Sam" (Jean) Duginski, Menasha; and Frank Duginski, Merrill. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald and her grandson Jonathon Meyer.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
