Marie C. Chauvin

Marie C. Chauvin, 85, of 1608 E. 12th St., Merrill, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Marie was born March 5, 1921, in St. Paul, Minn., daughter of the late Samuel and Madeline Mascotti Ritchie. She was a 1938 graduate of Humboldt High School in St. Paul, Minn. Upon moving to Merrill, Marie met Eugene P. "Gene" Chauvin Jr. They were married in Merrill on Oct. 5, 1940. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1982.

Marie and her late husband were the owners and operators of the former "Gene's Shoe Store" in Merrill. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Marie enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, playing cards, having dinner with friends, watching Packer games, and being with her family.

Survivors include her son Eugene P. "Phil" (Ellie) Chauvin III, Rolling Meadows, Ill.; daughters Jean M. (Bruce) English and Kerry (Rick) Hass, both of Merrill; grandchildren Eugene P. (Yvonne) Chauvin IV, Des Plaines, Ill.; Corrina (Tait) Miller, Seattle, Wash.; Theodore Chauvin, Pullman, Wash.; Tony and Randi Hass, and Abby and Andi English, all of Merrill; great-grandchildren Jason Chauvin, Nicole Romanowski, and Teagan and Cooper Miller; and sister Beverly Hanson, Chesapeake, Va.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 5, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Entombment was in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
