Ernestine A. Voigt-Ruether
Ernestine A. (nee Kleinschmidt) Voigt-Ruether, 89, of 1100 Lakeview Dr., Wausau, formerly of Merrill, passed into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Ernestine was born Jan. 12, 1918, in the town of Scott, Lincoln County, daughter of the late John and Ernestine Hoff Kleinschmidt. She married Ralph Otto Voigt on June 26, 1937. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1957. She then married Raymond Ruether in 1979. He preceded her in death.
Ernestine enjoyed watching game shows on television and embroidering. While she and her husband Ralph lived on their farm in the town of Pine River, Ernestine enjoyed canning, baking and taking care of their children. Ernestine especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Carol (Mark) Pankow and Dawn (Gerald) Schmidt, both of Merrill; Shirley Hopkins, Wausau; and Darlene (David) Herdt, Merrill; sons LaVerne (Linda) Voigt, Wayne (Virginia) Voigt, Ralph (Arlene) Voigt and Gene (Phyllis) Voigt, all of Merrill; James Voigt, Wausau; and Michael Voigt, Grand Prairie, Texas; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Florence Rohloff, Martha Krueger, Marie Hackbart, Alvina Kudick and Helen Pepke; and brothers David, John and Walter Kleinschmidt.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 10, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Kelly Leary officiated. Burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, town of Scott, Lincoln County.
