George A. Lawrence, 70, Wausau, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Tomahawk to the late Paul and Lola (Long) Lawrence. He married Donna Mae Scott in the summer of 1955 in Beloit.

George was raised on a farm and attended school in Merrill. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1955, serving during the Korean War. He also worked as a semitruck driver and in canning companies until he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae; four sons, Tony (Chris) Lawrence, Monroe, Wis., John (Vicki) Lawrence, Stevens, Pa., Todd (Janet Holcomb) Lawrence and Keith (Ann Tracy) Lawrence, all of Janesville; one daughter, Patricia (Lloyd Johnson) White, Janesville; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister; three nieces, Lee (David) Branson and Marcie Dunn, all of Wausau, and Marilyn Nelson, Columbus, Wis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, Schofield. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
