Adeline L. Schultz

Adeline L. Schultz, 67, of La Crosse and formerly of Trempealeau died on Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

She was born in Tomahawk, Wis., on June 12, 1936, to Carl E. and Loraine (Carstenson) Schultz. She was raised in Rhinelander, Wis., and was a 1954 graduate of Rhinelander High School.

Adeline worked as an AODA counselor with the Gundersen Lutheran Unity House for Women for many years. Earlier in her life, she created and patented the "Sweet Adeline" reversible doll. She was an accomplished painter, and one of her paintings is still featured on the city of Trempealeau visitor's guide. Adeline liked to sew and loved to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren, and was also an excellent gardener and homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters, Jodeen Wink of Rochester, Minn., Melissa (Richard) Strauss of Holmen, Brenda (Ronald) Herman of Holmen, and Laurie Neau of Onalaska; eight grandchildren, Holly, Esmerelda, Sophia, Carl, Nadine, Chelsey, Shayne, and Dalton; one sister; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, her cat Buddy. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son, Brian Allen Joslin.

Funeral services will be held today (Friday, Feb. 6) at 11 a.m. at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church. Rev. Lindsay Jordan will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Friends may call at at the church today from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Adeline's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the downtown Country Kitchen on Seventh Street in La Crosse for making Adeline part of their family.
