LARUE DONNER

LaRue Sigman Donner, age 77, of Henderson, passed away July 23, 2007.

Edna LaRue Sigman was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Erbacon, W.Va., to Ida and Oran Sigman. She grew up in Cowan, W.Va., and later moved to Washington D.C., where she met and married Wesley Donner, Jr. Jan. 20, 1952. While living there, she worked at the F.B.I. headquarters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Oran Sigman.

LaRue and Wesley made their first home in Gleason, Wis., where they raised four children. When her family was young, she was a leader in the Cub Scouts and 4-H programs. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for baking and decorating cakes for numerous occasions, including weddings. She taught Sunday school classes and had remained a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Merrill, Wis. In 1979, they moved from Wisconsin to the southwestern states, living in Las Vegas, Bullhead City, Ariz., and most recently, in Henderson.

She enjoyed helping the less fortunate and several years prepared food for the homeless teen shelter. She crocheted blankets for the needy and was famous for her handmade "baby afghans." LaRue loved people, always willing to help those in need. Despite her many personal ailments, she always remained happy with a positive outlook on life. Her stories and jokes were a part of every gathering she attended. She is well known by many for playing her guitar and singing songs.

LaRue is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wesley Donner Jr.; daughters, Nancy Donner of Las Vegas, Lynn Donner of Henderson, and Diane Donner of Madison, Wis.; son, Ronald Donner (Jackie) of Northfield, Minn.; five grandchildren, Bill, Justine, Tovah, Ariella and Hannah; five great-grandchildren; also her sister, Gaila Cogar; brother, Jack Sigman, both of Amherst, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her funeral will be held at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill, Wis., with interment at Merrill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 300 N. Mill St., Merrill, WI 54452.
