Alice R. Kriewald

Alice Ruth Kriewald, 92, of Schofield, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehab.

Born in the town of Berlin on Aug. 5, 1914, Alice was the daughter of the late Andrew and Amalia Grawien Pagel. She married Harold Kriewald on Oct. 17, 1931. He died on Aug. 7, 1994.

Alice was a homemaker all of her life. She had farmed with her husband in the town of Berlin for 30 years. She then worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company until retiring in 1979. Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and sang in the choir. She loved needle point, sewing, knitting, gardening and her flowers. Alice also enjoyed playing cards, especially canasta. She loved to cook and bake. Alice enjoyed traveling with her husband after retiring. During the last few years she enjoyed being with her friends at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehab Center. She was a faithful listener of church services on the radio of Trinity Lutheran Church. Alice was surrounded by her family as she passed away.

Surviving are her daughters Mavis (Harvey) Thurs, Schofield; and Joanne (Harlan) Schubring, Rothschild; sons Gerald (Anne), Harvard, Ill.; and William (Marilyn), Port Richie, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Adeline Raduenzel, Schofield; and special roommate friend, Anna Krueger, Schofield.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, four brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were Monday, March 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, town of Berlin.

The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
