Elroy E. Lemke

Elroy Ernest Lemke, 85, of Schofield, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at his home.

He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in the town of Scott in Lincoln County, the son of the late August and Ida (Theil) Lemke.

Elroy was an auto body mechanic for many years, retiring from Precision Auto Body. On June 12, 1946, Elroy married Hilda McKnight. She survives.

He is further survived by five daughters, Frieda McKnight, Schofield, Carol Hodgkins, Rothschild, Eileen Vaughn, Mosinee, Marianne Cook, Stevens Point, and Sandra (David) Bloedel, Mosinee; one son, Roy (Julie) Lemke, Florida; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Ernest; and five sisters, Lillian Howard, Sally Nutter, Alice Beilke, Florence Howard and Ada Hoff; grandson, Jack Lemke; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Barttelt; and two sons-in-law, Richard Kees and Keith Vaughn.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at the Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home, Schofield. The Rev. Richard Block of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church ELCA will officiate. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to services Thursday, all at the funeral home.
