Lyndon "Wimp" Zortman

Lyndon "Wimp" Zortman, 75, 2431 Enterprise Court, Plover, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Lyndon was born May 3, 1929, in Merrill to Jerry and Kate (Rhode) Zortman. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He married Mabel A. Moritz on Sept. 30, 1950. He worked for Wisconsin Bell until he retired in 1986.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mabel, at home; two daughters, Teresa (James) Jisko and Patti (Louie) Rozner, both of Plover; four sons, Michael (Mary) Zortman of Boise, Idaho, David (Lori) Zortman of Plover, Joe Zortman of Stevens Point and Bill (Debbie) Zortman of Forest Junction; two sisters, Joyce Harzke and Shirley Pfister, both of Merrill; nine grandchildren, J.J. Jisko, Sarah Karch, Amanda Rozner, Brock Rozner, Ashley Zortman, Melissa Zortman, Matt Zortman, Michelle Zortman and Kristen Zortman; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Zortman. Lyndon was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; two sisters; and one daughter.

Wimp, as known by all of those who have enjoyed his engaging and easygoing character, spent his leisure time reading, gardening, hunting, fishing and those journeys to the casino. He was well known for sharing his bounty of smoked fish with his family and close friends. Whether by telling a tall tale or sharing one of life's memories, he left a twinkle in our eyes and a smile in our hearts.

Private services were held with burial in Plover Cemetery.

Jensen Funeral Home of Stevens Point assisted the family with arrangements.

As he now begins a final journey to the loving embrace of our Lord, we take this time to remember this husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend for the lasting and special way he has touched us all. He and his exploits will be greatly missed.
