Irene Trantow, 91, formerly of 813 Chippewa St., Merrill, died Friday, December 31, 2004, under hospice care at Harbor House of Merrill.

Irene was born April 4, 1913, in Merrill, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Sabell. She married Lisle W. Trantow on May 15, 1946, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1995.

Irene was a homemaker and also a substitute teacher at St. Francis School in Merrill. She was an active member of the St. Francis Parish her entire life.

Survivors include her son Dean (Mary), Dunwoody, Ga.; grandchildren Christopher and Megan Trantow; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

The funeral mass was celebrated Monday, January 3, 2005, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
