Irene A. Leopold

Irene A. Leopold, 71, died Saturday, March 17, 2007.

Irene's life began Dec. 29, 1935, in the small town of Tomahawk. Irene Wadell married Fillmore Leopold and proceeded to have four children. The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1975. There, Irene held a custodial position for the state of Alaska at Kulis Air National Guard. She retired from the state of Alaska to live in the wild frontier of rural Alaska. Irene was a traveling soul and she loved to meet people. She'd always have a pot of coffee on for anyone who wanted to sit and chat. She had done many things in her life. Irene and her family have shared together both the good times and the bad times as many families do. She will be remembered for her kind and loving heart and for her strong will to live. She never backed down from a challenge and met each day with a fresh outlook for a better life.

Her travels took her from Alaska to Texas, but she planted her roots in Kansas with her loving friend and companion, Ike Chase. She is survived by her son Guy Leopold, daughter-in-law Fizz, grandson Brock; son Roy Leopold, daughter-in-law Mary; son Phil Leopold; daughter Ann Miller, son-in-law Kevin, and grandson Conner. She is also survived by her stepmother Della Wadell and brother Edmund (Marion) Wadell, and many nieces and nephews.

There were many challenges in Irene's life that she overcame because she was never one to give in or lose hope. This "tough ole' bird" will be deeply missed.

You see the moon, Mom, you see the moon? ...I will always love you. To Mom from Bugger-We'll open the diddy bag "TO SOMEDAY!!"
