Cecilia Michalski, 90, of Merrill, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Born in Merrill on August 2, 1914, Cecilia was the daughter of the late Frank and Julie Manitzki Gorski. She married Thomas Michalski on November 10, 1935, in Merrill. He preceded her in death.
Cecilia had worked as a florist for Green-s Floral Shop and later at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. She was a life-long member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Cecilia was also a member since 1960 and a trustee for over 25 years at the Merrill Eagles Auxiliary #584 in Merrill. She enjoyed crocheting, especially for her grandchildren; each and every stitch was truly made with love. Cecilia continued her work making special afghan squares for the Merrill Senior Center. Her time was well spent caring and loving those around her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, as well as her special friend -Annie- who she loved so dearly.
Survivors include her daughter Beth Ashbeck, Merrill; sons Allen (Dianne), Greenwood, Ind.; and Robert (Candy), Newburgh, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas and brother Aloysius Gorski.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 8, (Should be January 8) at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the St. Francis School tuition fund.
